A fix is available in the Linux kernel versions identified by the fixed commit hashes. Users should apply the updated kernel versions containing these fixes to resolve the issue. No additional mitigation steps are indicated.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ibmveth driver was resolved involving improper cleanup of logical LAN resources on failure during the open operation. Specifically, if buffer pool allocation fails after registering the logical LAN, the driver fails to free the logical LAN resource before unmapping the buffer list, potentially leaving the hypervisor owning the buffer list page improperly. This issue was fixed by moving the logical LAN free operation to a shared cleanup path ensuring deregistration occurs before unmapping.
