Description

NLnet Labs Unbound versions 1.14.0 through 1.25.0 contain a heap overflow vulnerability triggered by encoding multiple NSID, DNS Cookie EDNS, and/or EDNS Padding options in reply packets. This occurs due to a numeric truncation error in the size calculation of the EDNS field, allowing an attacker who can query Unbound with these options to cause a heap overflow and crash. The vulnerability requires the relevant EDNS options to be enabled. Unbound 1.25.1 includes a patch that fixes this issue by de-duplicating EDNS options and correcting the size calculation to prevent truncation.
