Users should avoid setting the language attribute from untrusted input or ensure it is strictly validated to prevent directory traversal. Restrict file system permissions to prevent attackers from placing malicious .po files in readable locations. Monitor vendor advisories for updates and apply official patches once available.

Description

Data::MuForm::Localizer versions through 0.05 for Perl contain a vulnerability where the language attribute is interpolated into the message catalog filename without proper validation. This allows an attacker who can place a crafted .po file at an arbitrary readable path to execute Perl code during catalog loading. The vulnerability arises from evaluating the 'Plural-Forms:' header in the catalog, which can include malicious code. Exploitation requires control over the language attribute and the ability to place a malicious .po file accessible to the application.
