AI-suggested

A fixed version, EDFbrowser 2.16 or later, addresses this vulnerability. Users should upgrade to version 2.16 or newer to remediate this issue. No other mitigation or workaround is indicated in the available data.

Description

EDFbrowser versions before 2.16 have an out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the check_edf_file() function. This flaw allows an attacker to overflow a fixed-size array by supplying an EDF+ or BDF+ file with more than 256 annotation signals. The overflow can overwrite critical header members, including pointers, leading to application crashes when the file is opened.
