AI-suggested

A fix is available in mlx-lm version 0.32.1. Users should upgrade to this version to resolve the vulnerability. As a workaround, ensure that ReadWriteLock paths are located in directories writable only by trusted users to prevent attackers from planting symlinks. Avoid using shared or world-writable directories for lock files.

Description

The ReadWriteLock and AsyncReadWriteLock classes in mlx-lm versions 0.30.7 through 0.32.0 resolve lock file paths following symlinks and pass them to sqlite3.connect() without preventing symlink traversal. This allows a local attacker with write access to the lock directory to cause the victim process to create or lock files at attacker-chosen locations, potentially breaking mutual exclusion and corrupting protected resources.
