AI-suggested

A patch is available in filelock version 0.32.2_1 that fixes this race condition. Users should upgrade to this version to remediate the vulnerability. No other mitigation is required as the issue is resolved by the official fix.

Description

A race condition vulnerability exists in filelock versions >=0.31.3_3 and <0.32.2_1 where StrictSoftFileLock and AsyncStrictSoftFileLock follow a symbolic link swapped in the <path>.filelock directory. This allows a local user with write access to rename the .filelock directory to a symbolic link after a check, causing the lock user to create claim files in an attacker-chosen directory. This can lead to denial of service by causing stranded claims that block other locks until manually force-broken.
