Upgrade Icinga 2 to version 2.12.12, 2.13.12, or 2.14.6 or later, where this vulnerability is patched. Ensure that Icinga 2 is built with OpenSSL version 1.1.0 or newer to prevent this issue. No other mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
Icinga 2 versions prior to 2.12.12, 2.13.12, and 2.14.6 contain a vulnerability in the VerifyCertificate() function when built with OpenSSL versions older than 1.1.0. This flaw allows an attacker to trick the system into accepting a malicious certificate request as a renewal of an existing certificate, enabling the attacker to obtain a valid certificate and impersonate trusted nodes. The issue has been patched in versions 2.12.12, 2.13.12, and 2.14.6.
