Upgrade Icinga 2 to version 2.14.9, 2.15.4, or 2.16.2 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation or workaround is documented. Applying the official fix fully addresses the issue.
Description
Icinga 2 versions prior to 2.14.9, 2.15.4, and 2.16.2 contain a vulnerability where parsing deeply nested JSON can exhaust the call stack due to unbounded nesting depth. This flaw is reachable by unauthenticated network clients via the Icinga 2 service on TCP port 5665, allowing remote attackers to crash the process. No confirmed code execution has been demonstrated. The issue is fixed in versions 2.14.9, 2.15.4, and 2.16.2.
