A security update is available and should be applied to affected systems. Red Hat has released python3.12-urllib3 version 1.26.19-5.el8_10 which fixes this vulnerability. Users should update to this version or later to remediate the issue. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A security update for python3.12-urllib3 addresses two vulnerabilities: a denial of service via unbounded memory allocation in the chunk parser (CVE-2026-97689) and traffic interception via HTTPS proxy TLS configuration override (CVE-2026-97687). The latter allows an attacker to intercept HTTPS traffic by overriding TLS proxy settings. The vulnerabilities affect versions of python3.12-urllib3 prior to 1.26.19-5.el8_10. Red Hat has released a patch to fix these issues.
