Description

CVE-2026-88027 is a vulnerability in the MongoDB integration for Laravel where improper neutralization of special elements in data query logic occurs during embedded-document relation handling. This flaw allows an authenticated user who can influence an embedded record identifier to have that identifier interpreted as a query condition instead of a literal identifier. This can lead to unintended deletion of all embedded documents in a targeted record or overwriting an embedded document other than the intended target.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability arises from improper neutralization of special elements in data query logic within the embedded-document relation handling of the MongoDB integration for Laravel. Specifically, a caller-supplied embedded record identifier is not treated as a literal identifier but as a query condition. This enables an authenticated user with the ability to influence such an identifier to delete or overwrite embedded documents beyond the intended scope.

Potential Impact

An authenticated user with the ability to influence embedded record identifiers can delete all embedded documents in a targeted record or overwrite embedded documents other than the intended target. This results in high integrity impact and low availability impact, with no confidentiality impact reported.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official fix or patch links are provided in the available data. Until a patch is available, limit authenticated user privileges to prevent unauthorized manipulation of embedded record identifiers.
