Description

JeecgBoot versions through 3.9.5 have a missing authorization vulnerability in the embeddingSearch handler of the AiragKnowledgeController. This flaw arises because the endpoint GET /airag/knowledge/embedding/search lacks Shiro permission annotations, allowing low-privileged authenticated users to access document text chunks from knowledge bases they should not have permission to read. The vulnerability has a medium severity with a CVSS score of 4.3.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in JeecgBoot up to version 3.9.5 is due to missing authorization checks in the embeddingSearch handler of the AiragKnowledgeController. Specifically, the GET /airag/knowledge/embedding/search endpoint does not enforce Shiro permission annotations, enabling authenticated users with low privileges to supply knowledge base IDs and read document text chunks from unauthorized knowledge bases. This is classified under CWE-862 (Missing Authorization).

Potential Impact

Low-privileged authenticated attackers can read sensitive document text chunks from knowledge bases they are not authorized to access. There is no indication of impact on integrity or availability. The confidentiality impact is limited to unauthorized read access.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to the affected endpoint to trusted users only and monitor for unauthorized access attempts.
