Description

JeecgBoot versions through 3.9.5 have a missing authorization vulnerability in the SysTenantController passApply handler. This flaw allows any authenticated user to approve tenant administrator applications without proper authorization. An attacker can submit a pending application and then approve it to gain tenant administrator privileges in any tenant.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in JeecgBoot up to version 3.9.5 is due to missing authorization checks in the SysTenantController passApply handler. Authenticated users can exploit this by filing a tenant administrator application through the doApplyTenantPackUser function and subsequently approving their own application via the PUT /sys/tenant/passApply API call. This results in unauthorized elevation to tenant administrator pack permissions across any tenant, violating access control policies.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an authenticated user to escalate privileges to tenant administrator level in any tenant, potentially leading to unauthorized administrative control and access to tenant resources. The CVSS v3.1 score of 8.1 reflects high impact on confidentiality and integrity, with no impact on availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict authenticated user access to the affected endpoints if possible and monitor for suspicious use of tenant application approval functions.
