Description

JeecgBoot versions up to 3.9.5 have a missing authorization vulnerability that allows any authenticated user with low privileges to transfer tenant ownership by sending a POST request to /sys/tenant/changeOwenUserTenant. Attackers can specify userId and tenantId parameters to reassign tenant ownership to themselves or other members, removing the legitimate owner.

Technical Analysis

JeecgBoot through version 3.9.5 contains a missing authorization vulnerability (CWE-862) that permits any authenticated user to transfer tenant ownership by sending a POST request to /sys/tenant/changeOwenUserTenant. The vulnerability arises because the system does not properly verify whether the user is authorized to perform the ownership transfer. As a result, low-privileged attackers can supply arbitrary userId and tenantId parameters to reassign ownership of any tenant, including to themselves, effectively stripping the legitimate owner of control.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows unauthorized modification of tenant ownership, compromising the integrity of tenant management within JeecgBoot. Attackers can take control of tenants they do not own, potentially leading to unauthorized actions within those tenants. There is no direct impact on confidentiality or availability reported.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Since no patch or official fix information is provided, users should monitor vendor communications for updates. Until a fix is available, restrict access to authenticated users and review tenant ownership change requests carefully if possible.
