AI-suggested
A patch is available and should be applied promptly. Ubuntu has released fixed kernel versions including 6.17.0-1009.9~24.04.2, 6.17.0-19.19~24.04.2, and others as listed in the advisory USN-8094-1. After updating, a system reboot is required to apply the fixes. Due to ABI changes, third-party kernel modules must be recompiled and reinstalled. Follow the vendor's update instructions carefully.
Description
Multiple vulnerabilities were discovered in the Linux kernel, including issues in the AppArmor Linux kernel Security Module (LSM) and entropy handling on some AMD Zen 5 processors supporting the RDSEED instruction. These vulnerabilities could allow unprivileged local attackers to cause denial of service, expose sensitive kernel memory, escalate privileges locally, or potentially escape containers. Additional security flaws affect numerous kernel subsystems and drivers. Fixes have been released for affected Linux kernel versions.
