AI-suggested
A patch is available and should be applied by updating to the fixed kernel versions 6.8.0-1042.46, 6.8.0-1019.20, or 6.8.0-2033.34 as appropriate for the platform. After updating, a system reboot is required to activate the fixes. Due to an ABI change, all third-party kernel modules must be recompiled and reinstalled. Users should follow the official Ubuntu security notice USN-7861-5 for detailed update instructions.
Description
Multiple security vulnerabilities were discovered in the Linux kernel for Raspberry Pi, Raspberry Pi Real-time, and Xilinx systems. These include a branch predictor isolation flaw known as VMSCAPE (CVE-2025-40300) that could allow an attacker in a guest VM to expose sensitive information from the host OS. Additional flaws affect the HSI, Bluetooth, and Timer subsystems. Updates correcting these issues have been released and require a system reboot and recompilation of third-party kernel modules due to ABI changes.
