AI-suggested

Upgrade the MCP Python SDK to version 1.30.0 (1.x) or 2.2.0 (2.x) or later, where the client no longer performs network or file access during schema validation. Until upgrading, only call tools on servers you fully trust. As a partial workaround, avoid calling tools whose outputSchema contains an $id or any $ref/$dynamicRef that does not start with '#'.

Description

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) Python SDK versions 1.10.0 through 1.29.1 and 2.0.0 through 2.1.1 contain a vulnerability where the client fetches server-chosen $ref URLs during tool result validation. This allows a malicious server to cause the client to make network or local file requests synchronously without timeout, potentially freezing the client session. The issue is fixed in versions 1.30.0 and 2.2.0.
