What to do
AI-suggested
Until a fix is available, avoid logging USER requests with expansions such as %U when using mod_sql with SQL backends that allow command execution. Monitor for vendor updates and apply official patches once released.
Description
A vulnerability in mod_sql of ProFTPD before version 1.3.10rc1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via crafted usernames. This occurs when USER requests are logged with expansions like %U and the SQL backend supports commands such as COPY TO PROGRAM.
