Until a fix is available, users should avoid using the vulnerable versions or restrict usage of public clients with the device authorization grant. Implementing additional validation on the device_code parameter in the token endpoint is recommended to mitigate this issue.
Description
OAuthLib's implementation of the RFC 8628 device authorization grant type contains a vulnerability where the token endpoint does not validate the device_code parameter. This allows an attacker who knows a valid client ID for a public client configured for the device workflow to obtain a bearer token without a valid device_code. The flaw arises because DeviceCodeGrant.validate_token_request lacks proper validation of the device_code parameter, unlike other grant types. This issue affects versions of the Apprise product starting from 1.9.3_2. The vulnerability has a high severity with a CVSS score of 8.5.
