Description
Open WebUI versions from 0.6.33 up to but not including 0.11.4 contain a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability. This flaw allows authenticated users to inject malicious scripts via the citation embed_url fields. When a victim clicks a crafted chat citation, the script executes in their session, potentially exposing sensitive tokens and enabling attacker impersonation.

Technical Analysis
The Open WebUI application versions starting from 0.6.33 and before 0.11.4 have a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability. Authenticated attackers can embed javascript: URLs in citation embed_url fields. When victims interact with these crafted citations, the malicious script executes in their browser context via window.open, allowing attackers to steal localStorage.token and impersonate victims.
Potential Impact
Successful exploitation allows attackers with authenticated access to execute arbitrary scripts in the context of other users' sessions. This can lead to theft of authentication tokens (localStorage.token), enabling attackers to act as the victim user. The vulnerability impacts confidentiality and integrity but does not affect availability.
Mitigation Recommendations
A fix is available in Open WebUI version 0.11.4. Users should upgrade to version 0.11.4 or later to remediate this vulnerability. No vendor advisory content was provided to indicate alternative mitigations or temporary fixes.
