Rabbitmq server: RabbitMQ is a messaging and streaming broker. (CVE-2026-66072)
Description
RabbitMQ server versions prior to 3.13.15, 4.0.20, 4.1.11, 4.2.6, and 4.3.1 contain a vulnerability in the rabbitmq_stream plugin where an authenticated stream client with read access can cause the broker node to crash. This occurs because the get_chunk_selector/1 function calls binary_to_atom on untrusted client-supplied data without validation. The issue is fixed in the specified versions.

Technical Analysis
The vulnerability in RabbitMQ involves the get_chunk_selector/1 function calling binary_to_atom on the raw client-supplied <<"chunk_selector">> property from post-auth subscribe and resolve_offset_spec frames without any whitelist or guard. This allows an authenticated stream client with read access to any stream, when the rabbitmq_stream plugin is enabled, to crash the broker node. The flaw affects versions prior to 3.13.15, 4.0.20, 4.1.11, 4.2.6, and 4.3.1, where it has been fixed.
Potential Impact
An authenticated user with read access to at least one stream can cause a denial of service by crashing the RabbitMQ broker node. This impacts availability but does not indicate unauthorized data access or privilege escalation.
Mitigation Recommendations
Upgrade RabbitMQ to version 3.13.15, 4.0.20, 4.1.11, 4.2.6, or 4.3.1 or later, where this issue is fixed. Ensure the rabbitmq_stream plugin is updated accordingly. No other mitigation is indicated by the vendor advisory.
