AI-suggested
Red Hat recommends upgrading to a fixed version of golang.org/x/net that includes the corrected idna handling. This can be achieved by updating the golang toolchain or rebuilding dependent packages that include the vulnerable library. No other mitigations are specified. Users should follow Red Hat's official advisories and update affected components accordingly.
Description
A flaw in golang.org/x/net/idna's ToASCII and ToUnicode functions incorrectly accepts certain Punycode-encoded labels that decode to ASCII-only hostnames, potentially allowing privilege escalation by bypassing ASCII-only hostname validation. This affects Red Hat products that ship the Go toolchain or bundle the golang.org/x/net package, including RHEL, OpenShift, and related components. The vulnerability could allow an attacker to supply a Punycode hostname that passes ASCII-only authorization checks but normalizes to a restricted ASCII name, granting unintended access.
