AI-suggested

Red Hat recommends upgrading to a fixed version of golang.org/x/net that includes the corrected idna handling. This can be achieved by updating the Go toolchain or rebuilding dependent packages with the fixed library. Users should monitor Red Hat advisories for the availability of official patches or updated packages. No other mitigations or workarounds are specified in the advisory.

Description

A vulnerability exists in the golang.org/x/net/idna package used by Red Hat products including RHEL and OpenShift components. The flaw involves incorrect handling of Punycode-encoded labels in ToASCII and ToUnicode functions, which can cause an ASCII-only hostname validation to be bypassed. This may allow an attacker to escalate privileges by supplying a Punycode hostname that normalizes to a restricted ASCII hostname that should have been blocked.
