Red Hat has issued an official security update for the booth package in Red Hat Enterprise Linux High Availability 8.6 to fix this vulnerability. Users should apply the update RHSA-2024:4400 and ensure all prior relevant errata are installed. Applying this update remediates the issue. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A security vulnerability (CVE-2024-3049) in the Booth cluster ticket manager component of Red Hat Enterprise Linux High Availability 8.6 allows a specially crafted hash to cause the Booth server to accept an invalid HMAC. Booth is used to coordinate resource authorization across multiple sites in high availability clusters. This flaw could undermine the integrity of the authorization mechanism ensuring resources run only at one granted site at a time.
