AI-suggested

Red Hat has released updated Booth packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.8 Extended Update Support to address this vulnerability. Users should apply the security update as detailed in Red Hat advisory RHSA-2024:3658. For instructions on applying the update, refer to https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. Applying this update mitigates the vulnerability by correcting the HMAC validation logic. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor.

Description

A security vulnerability (CVE-2024-3049) affects the Booth cluster ticket manager component in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.8 Extended Update Support. The flaw allows a specially crafted hash to cause the Booth server to accept an invalid HMAC, potentially undermining the authorization mechanism that ensures resources run at only one granted site at a time in multi-site high availability clusters. Red Hat has released an important security update to address this issue.
