Red Hat has released updated Flatpak packages (version 1.12.9-3.el9_4.1) that fix these vulnerabilities. Users of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.4 and related distributions should apply the provided security updates promptly. Detailed update instructions are available at https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. No additional mitigation steps are indicated in the advisory.
Description
Two security vulnerabilities have been identified in Flatpak, a system for sandboxed desktop applications on Linux. CVE-2026-34078 allows arbitrary code execution via crafted symlinks in sandbox-expose options. CVE-2026-34079 permits arbitrary file deletion on the host due to improper cache file path validation. Red Hat has issued a security advisory with updates for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.4 to address these issues.
