What to do
AI-suggested
Red Hat has released an official security update for Flatpak (version 1.12.7-5.el9_2.1) that addresses these vulnerabilities. Users of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2 and related Update Services for SAP Solutions should apply this update promptly following Red Hat's published guidance at https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. No additional mitigations are specified beyond applying the official patch.
Description
Two security vulnerabilities were identified in Flatpak, a system for sandboxed desktop applications on Linux. CVE-2026-34078 allows arbitrary code execution via crafted symlinks in sandbox-expose options. CVE-2026-34079 permits arbitrary file deletion on the host due to improper cache file path validation. Red Hat has issued an important security update addressing these issues in Flatpak packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2. The update mitigates the risk of code execution and file deletion attacks on affected systems.
