AI-suggested
Red Hat has released updated libarchive packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.4 Extended Update Support to fix these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the security update as detailed in Red Hat advisory RHSA-2026:8873 and the referenced article https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official patches.
Description
Two security vulnerabilities have been identified in the libarchive library used by Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.4 Extended Update Support. The first is an information disclosure issue caused by a heap out-of-bounds read during RAR archive processing (CVE-2026-4424). The second is an arbitrary code execution vulnerability due to an integer overflow in ISO9660 image processing (CVE-2026-5121). These issues affect multiple Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.4 variants across various architectures. Red Hat has released security updates to address these vulnerabilities.
