AI-suggested
Red Hat has released updated libarchive packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 and related products that address these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the security updates as described in Red Hat advisory RHSA-2026:8534 and the referenced article https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor beyond applying the official patches.
Description
Two security vulnerabilities have been identified in the libarchive library used by Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 and related products. The first vulnerability (CVE-2026-4424) involves information disclosure via a heap out-of-bounds read during RAR archive processing. The second vulnerability (CVE-2026-5121) allows arbitrary code execution due to an integer overflow in ISO9660 image processing. Red Hat has released security updates addressing these issues.
