AI-suggested

Red Hat has released updated libarchive packages (version 3.5.3-9.el9_7) that address these vulnerabilities. Users of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 should apply the security update as detailed in Red Hat Advisory RHSA-2026:8510. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the official patch.

Description

Two security vulnerabilities have been identified in the libarchive library used by Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9. These include an information disclosure flaw caused by a heap out-of-bounds read in RAR archive processing (CVE-2026-4424) and an arbitrary code execution vulnerability due to an integer overflow in ISO9660 image processing (CVE-2026-5121). Red Hat has released an important security update addressing these issues in libarchive version 3.5.3-9.el9_7 for multiple architectures and variants of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.
