AI-suggested

Red Hat has released updated libarchive packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.6 variants that fix these vulnerabilities. Users should apply these official patches promptly to remediate the issues. Refer to Red Hat's advisory and update instructions at https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258 for detailed guidance. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the provided updates.

Description

Red Hat has issued a security advisory for libarchive, a library used to create and read various archive formats. Two vulnerabilities are addressed: an information disclosure via a heap out-of-bounds read in RAR archive processing (CVE-2026-4424) and an arbitrary code execution via an integer overflow in ISO9660 image processing (CVE-2026-5121). These vulnerabilities affect Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.6 variants. The update fixes these issues to prevent potential information leaks and code execution.
