AI-suggested

Red Hat has released updated libarchive packages (version 3.3.3-1.el8_4.2) for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4 Extended Life Cycle and AUS variants that address these vulnerabilities. Users should apply these official security updates promptly to remediate the issues. For detailed update instructions, refer to the Red Hat article at https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.

Description

Two security vulnerabilities were identified in the libarchive library used by Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4. One vulnerability (CVE-2026-4424) allows information disclosure via a heap out-of-bounds read during RAR archive processing. The other (CVE-2026-5121) enables arbitrary code execution through an integer overflow in ISO9660 image processing. Red Hat has issued an important security update addressing these issues in libarchive version 3.3.3-1.el8_4.2 for affected RHEL 8.4 variants.
