Red Hat has released updated libxml2 packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2 Extended Update Support that fix these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the security update as detailed in Red Hat advisory RHSA-2025:2482 and the referenced article https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor.

Description

Two security vulnerabilities have been identified in the libxml2 library used in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2 Extended Update Support. These include a Use-After-Free vulnerability (CVE-2024-56171) and a stack-based buffer overflow in the xmlSnprintfElements function (CVE-2025-24928). Red Hat has released an important security update addressing these issues.
