Red Hat advises users of LVMS 4.17 in OpenShift Container Platform to upgrade to the latest version, which includes a Golang version bump that fixes this vulnerability and related issues. No other mitigations meeting Red Hat's criteria are currently available. Users should ensure all previously released errata are applied before updating. Refer to Red Hat's official update documentation for detailed upgrade instructions.
Description
A vulnerability was found in the crypto/tls component used by Red Hat's Logical Volume Manager Storage (LVMS) 4.17. The flaw occurs during TLS session resumption when certificate authority settings are changed between the initial and resumed handshakes. This can allow an attacker to bypass certificate validation, potentially enabling authentication bypass under specific conditions. The issue is considered moderate in severity due to the complexity of exploitation and limited impact scope. Red Hat has released an update for LVMS 4.17 in OpenShift Container Platform that includes a Golang version bump addressing this and several related CVEs.
