Red Hat has released an update for the nodejs:24 module on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 that addresses these vulnerabilities. Users should apply this security update as detailed in the Red Hat advisory (https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258) to remediate the issues. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the official patch.
Description
This Red Hat security advisory addresses multiple denial of service vulnerabilities in Node.js 24, specifically in the brace-expansion and node-tar components. The vulnerabilities include exponential-time complexity in brace-expansion (CVE-2026-13149), and denial of service via malformed tar archive header (CVE-2026-59874) and crafted gzip bomb (CVE-2026-59873) in node-tar. These issues could allow an attacker to cause service disruption by exhausting resources. Red Hat has released an important security update for Node.js 24 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 to fix these vulnerabilities.
