Description

CVE-2025-61727 is a vulnerability in the Go standard library's crypto/x509 package that allows certificate validation bypass due to improper handling of excluded subdomain constraints with wildcard Subject Alternative Names (SANs). An attacker with a wildcard leaf certificate can bypass DNS name constraints intended to exclude certain subdomains, potentially enabling man-in-the-middle attacks. The vulnerability has moderate severity and does not allow full control over data read or modification. No effective mitigation is currently available that meets Red Hat's criteria for ease of use and deployment.
