Red Hat has released updated RPM packages (nodejs24-24.15.0-1.hum1 and related) that fix this vulnerability. Users should apply these updates to remediate the issue. No other mitigation is currently available or recommended by Red Hat. Systems running brace-expansion versions 1.x or 2.x are not affected and do not require action.
Description
A vulnerability (CVE-2026-45149) was found in the brace-expansion library versions 5.0.0 through 5.0.5 used in Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs. The flaw allows an attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by providing a large numeric range for expansion, which leads to excessive memory allocation and potential application crashes. Red Hat products shipping brace-expansion versions 1.x and 2.x are not affected. No mitigation is currently available that meets Red Hat's criteria for ease of use and stability. An update including fixed RPM packages has been released.
