A fix is available from Red Hat as an update to the python-cryptography packages included in Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs (python3-cryptography-48.0.0-3.hum1). Users should apply this update to mitigate the vulnerability. No other mitigations or workarounds are specified by the vendor advisory.
Description
CVE-2026-44432 is a vulnerability in the urllib3 Python HTTP client library that allows a remote attacker to cause excessive resource consumption on the client side. This happens when urllib3 decompresses an entire HTTP response even if only a partial read was requested, potentially leading to high CPU usage and massive memory allocation, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS). Red Hat has issued an update for Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs including python-cryptography packages to address this issue.
