AI-suggested
Red Hat recommends rejecting JWE tokens carrying the "zip": "DEF" header at the application gateway or API perimeter before decryption routines are executed. This mitigation prevents the vulnerable decompression code from processing crafted tokens. Updated RPMs for rabbitmq-server4.3 are available as part of Red Hat Hardened Images, which include fixes and enhancements. Users should apply these updates as per Red Hat's guidance. No other immediate action is required if the mitigation is applied.
Description
CVE-2026-65627 is a denial of service vulnerability in the jose library used by Red Hat Hardened Images. It occurs when processing JSON Web Encryption (JWE) tokens with compression enabled, where decompression is performed without limits on output size or expansion ratio. An attacker can send a crafted compressed token that causes excessive memory consumption, crashing the Erlang BEAM virtual machine and causing a denial of service.
