AI-suggested
A security update is available from Red Hat for the affected glib2 packages in Red Hat Hardened Images (version 2.89.2-2.hum1). Applying this update is the recommended remediation. No other mitigations currently meet Red Hat's criteria for ease of use, applicability, or stability. Users should follow Red Hat's update instructions at https://images.redhat.com/ to apply the fix.
Description
A denial-of-service (DoS) vulnerability exists in the GDBus component of GLib used in Red Hat Hardened Images. The gdbusauth authentication mechanism does not enforce length limits on data lines from clients, allowing unauthenticated local or remote attackers to send excessively long data streams. This causes excessive memory and CPU consumption, potentially crashing or hanging affected applications or systems. No mitigation other than updating is currently available that meets Red Hat's criteria.
