AI-suggested

Red Hat has released updated RPM packages including opentelemetry-collector-contrib-0.162.0-0.2.hum1 that fix this vulnerability by upgrading the amqp091-go library to version 1.14.0. Applying this update is the recommended remediation. No other mitigations meeting Red Hat's criteria for ease of use and applicability are currently available. Users should apply the official Red Hat update as soon as possible to remediate this issue.

Description

A denial of service (DoS) vulnerability exists in the amqp091-go client library version 1.13.0 used in Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs. A malicious AMQP server or man-in-the-middle attacker can send a crafted frame header with a large declared payload size during initial connection setup, causing the client to allocate excessive memory before authentication completes. This leads to memory exhaustion and termination of the client process. The issue is fixed in version 1.14.0 of the library. Red Hat has released updated RPMs including opentelemetry-collector-contrib-0.162.0-0.2.hum1 to address this vulnerability.
