What to do
AI-suggested
Apply the updated libssh2 packages provided in the Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs (version 1.11.1-10.2.hum1). Additionally, ensure that client applications connect only to trusted and verified SSH servers. Standard system memory protections should be maintained to help mitigate potential crashes. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 and newer are not affected and require no action.
Description
A vulnerability in libssh2 allows a malicious SSH server to send a malformed public key response, causing improper memory cleanup. This can lead to client application crashes or information leaks. The flaw affects client applications connecting to untrusted SSH servers. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 and newer are not affected as they do not ship libssh2. A security update for Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs including libssh2 packages addresses this issue.
