AI-suggested

Apply the Red Hat security update for Poppler packages included in Red Hat Hardened Images (version 26.08.0-1.1.hum1). Until patched, avoid opening untrusted PDF documents with applications relying on Poppler for rendering. Consider running such applications in sandboxed environments to limit potential impact. There is no configuration option to disable JBIG2 stream processing without patching, so applying the update is the recommended remediation.

Description

A security vulnerability (CVE-2026-93313) was found in Poppler, specifically an integer overflow in the JBIG2Stream::readCodeTableSeg function when processing crafted JBIG2 image data. This flaw could lead to memory corruption, potentially causing denial of service or information disclosure. Red Hat has issued an update for Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs including Poppler packages to address this issue. Users are advised to avoid opening untrusted PDFs with Poppler-based applications and to sandbox such applications when processing untrusted content. No configuration option exists to disable JBIG2 stream processing without patching.
