Since the attack requires SNMP authentication to be disabled or known credentials, enabling SNMP authentication and securing SNMP community strings or credentials is recommended to mitigate this vulnerability. Additionally, review SNMP item configurations to limit exposure.
Description
CVE-2024-42332 is a vulnerability in Zabbix where the SNMP trap log parsing allows an attacker to craft SNMP traps with additional forged lines that appear in the Zabbix UI. Exploitation requires SNMP authentication to be disabled or the attacker to know valid community or authentication details, and an SNMP item configured as text on the target host.
