Published: 10/02/2026 (10/02/2026, 22:39:57 UTC)
Source: GCVE Database
Product: trigger.dev

Description

Trigger.dev versions prior to 4.5.5 have an unauthenticated POST endpoint allowing arbitrary data injection into realtime streams by anyone who knows or can guess a run friendlyId. The endpoint lacks authentication and environment scoping, enabling cross-environment access. This vulnerability has a medium severity with a CVSS score of 5.3.

Technical Analysis

The POST handler at /realtime/v1/streams/:runId/:streamId in Trigger.dev lacks authentication and environment scoping. The run lookup uses only the friendlyId without checking runtimeEnvironmentId, allowing unauthenticated entities to inject arbitrary data into realtime streams of any run, including production runs. Run friendlyIds follow predictable patterns, making guessing feasible. This issue affects versions prior to 4.5.5.

Potential Impact

An attacker can inject arbitrary data into any run's realtime stream without authentication, potentially disrupting or manipulating realtime data flows. The lack of environment scoping allows cross-environment access, increasing the risk of affecting production data streams. There is no confidentiality or availability impact reported, but integrity of realtime stream data is compromised.

Mitigation Recommendations

A patch is available for this vulnerability. Users should upgrade to version 4.5.5 or later to ensure authentication is enforced and environment scoping is applied to the realtime stream POST handler. Until patched, restrict access to the endpoint and monitor for unauthorized data injection if possible.
