Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-14896 is a vulnerability in HashiCorp Nomad and Nomad Enterprise where the dynamic host volumes feature improperly restricts authorization checks across namespaces. An operator who has permission to delete host volumes in one namespace can exploit this to delete sticky volume claims associated with jobs in different namespaces. This cross-namespace authorization bypass could lead to unauthorized deletion of resources. The vulnerability is addressed in Nomad Community Edition 2.0.4 and Nomad Enterprise 2.0.4, 1.11.8, and 1.10.14.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows an operator with limited delete permissions scoped to one namespace to delete sticky volume claims in other namespaces, potentially disrupting jobs and causing denial of service or data loss. There is no confidentiality impact reported. Integrity and availability impacts are limited to unauthorized deletion of volume claims.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available and has been released in Nomad Community Edition 2.0.4 and Nomad Enterprise versions 2.0.4, 1.11.8, and 1.10.14. Users should upgrade to these versions or later to remediate this vulnerability.
