Technical Summary
The Linux kernel vulnerability (CVE-2026-23308) involves the pinctrl equilibrium driver where the callback functions eqbr_irq_mask() and eqbr_irq_ack() are called within eqbr_irq_mask_ack() to avoid code duplication. However, eqbr_irq_mask() calls gpiochip_disable_irq(), which triggers warning traces in the kernel log for every GPIO on load. This warning indicates improper handling of GPIO interrupts, leading to system log warnings and potential system instability. The issue was resolved in Linux kernel versions 6.8.0 and later. The vulnerability has a CVSS 3.1 score of 5.5 (medium severity) with an impact on availability only (no confidentiality or integrity impact).
Potential Impact
The vulnerability causes warning traces in the kernel logs during system boot related to GPIO interrupt handling, which can lead to system instability or denial of service. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity. The issue affects system availability by potentially disrupting normal operation due to repeated warnings and related kernel behavior.
Mitigation Recommendations
A patch is available and should be applied by updating to Linux kernel version 6.8.0 or later. After updating, a system reboot is required to apply the fix. Due to an ABI change, all third-party kernel modules must be recompiled and reinstalled. Follow the vendor's update instructions carefully to ensure full remediation.

Technical Analysis
