A patch is available from the vendor. Users should apply the official Ubuntu Linux kernel updates for versions 6.8, 6.17, and 7.0 to remediate this vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
Ubuntu Linux kernels 6.8, 6.17, and 7.0 include AppArmor SAUCE patches that incorrectly free a pointer not previously allocated with kmalloc(), causing slab metadata corruption and memory leaks. This vulnerability can be triggered by an unprivileged local user and may lead to resource exhaustion or kernel memory corruption.
