Description

ZITADEL versions from 3.0.0 up to but not including 4.19.2 contain an authentication bypass vulnerability in the Login V2 UI. This flaw allows unauthenticated attackers to forge unsigned session cookies and guess time-ordered session IDs to obtain valid rotated session tokens. Exploitation enables attackers to take over user accounts, including those of administrators who have completed multi-factor authentication.

Technical Analysis

ZITADEL 3.0.0 before 4.19.2 has an authentication bypass vulnerability in the Login V2 UI. Attackers can forge unsigned session cookies and guess session IDs around a victim's sign-in time. By supplying these with empty tokens, attackers receive rotated tokens, allowing them to hijack user sessions, including MFA-protected administrator sessions. This vulnerability is tracked as CVE-2026-109373 and has a CVSS v3.1 score of 8.1, indicating high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation results in full account takeover, including accounts protected by multi-factor authentication. Attackers gain unauthorized access to user sessions, compromising confidentiality and integrity of user data and administrative controls.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fixed version 4.19.2 or later is implied but not explicitly stated in the input data. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a patch is applied, restrict access to the Login V2 UI and monitor for suspicious session activity if possible.
