Apache Shiro’s Jakarta EE module used the HTTP Referer header in certain cases to issue redirect after a user login. In affected versions, insufficient validation of this client-controlled value could allow an attacker to influence the redirect target in applications using the Jakarta EE module. This issue affects Apache Shiro from 2.0-alpha to 2.2.0, and 3.0.0-alpha-1, only when using shiro-jakarta-ee integration module.

CVE-2026-44598 is a medium severity vulnerability in the Apache Shiro Jakarta EE integration module affecting versions 2.0.0-alpha and 3.0.0-alpha. It allows an attacker with valid login credentials to exploit an open redirect and server-side request forgery (SSRF) via a forged shiroSavedRequest cookie. This cookie is used post-login to redirect users but lacks validation, enabling redirection to arbitrary URLs and server-side HTTP GET requests. The issue is fixed in Apache Shiro versions 2.1.1 and 3.0.0-alpha-2 by encrypting the cookie used for redirection.
