CVE-2026-16445: Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an OS Command ('OS Command Injection') in Red Hat Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8CVE-2026-16445
0

CVE-2026-16445 is a high-severity vulnerability in the dracut component of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8. It allows a remote attacker on the adjacent network to inject OS commands by supplying specially crafted DHCP options that are improperly handled and embedded into a temporary shell script during system boot. This leads to root code execution within the initramfs environment. The vulnerability affects Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 versions from 8.0.0 up to but not including 8.10.244. Red Hat has released security updates to address this issue.
